Payment is not proof

Every listing is paid and reviewed before publication, but that does not guarantee that an advertiser owns a property, that it is available, or that a transaction is safe. Independent checks still matter.

Before a viewing

• Confirm the address, who you are meeting and their relationship to the property.
• Tell someone where you are going. Consider taking another person and arranging a daytime appointment.
• Look for inconsistent photographs, implausible prices or pressure to act immediately.

Before paying or sharing documents

• View the property and independently check the advertiser’s identity and authority.
• Verify payment instructions using a trusted contact method; treat unexpected bank-detail changes with caution.
• Use qualified professionals and appropriate protected arrangements. Never pay a property deposit to PointClickView: we do not hold property funds.
• Share only the documents needed, through a suitable secure channel.

If something seems wrong

Use the report option on a listing or our report form. Include specific details so the moderation team can investigate. If money has been lost, contact your bank promptly and the appropriate fraud or police reporting service. In an emergency, call 999.
